the best cookie. ever.

Spending all day at the Met can get pretty tiring. I needed a sweet snack to boost my energy afterwards, so we took a stroll through Central Park and headed over to Levain Bakery in the Upper West Side. It’s a little out of the way from all of the hustle and bustle, but definitely worth the trek. I tried their signature chocolate chip walnut cookie and it was incredible. It’s everything you can ask for in a perfect chocolate chip cookie. Alvin opted to get the blueberry muffin which was just as tasty.

Helpful hint: don’t forget to buy a few cookies to take home! I was so stuffed from my one cookie, I didn’t think I needed to buy any more for later. I figured I can always order them online anyways… big mistake. Shipping costs are insane! I guess I will just have to wait until my next trip back to NY…

Gaslamp

I just got back from a weekend getaway in San Diego. I love staying in the Gaslamp District, especially because of all the great places to eat! Here are some of the foods that I enjoyed during my stay.

Zanzibar Cafe has been a favorite of mine since my friends and I discovered the one in PB a few years back. I made sure to check out the downtown location for breakfast.

You can always count on Sushi Deli 2 for great Japanese food and awesome prices that won’t empty your pockets.

We enjoyed Zanzibar so much that we came back for another meal. This time, I ordered the smoked turkey and brie panini.

I couldn’t end the weekend in San Diego without a visit to Extraordinary Desserts! I had a slice of the Ivoire Royale cake and omg it was to die for.

Vosges Haut-Chocolat

I recently came across Vosges Haut-Chocolat on DailyCandy Chicago. The different exotic flavors of chocolate sounded appealing so I headed to the Lincoln Park shop this past weekend. Always prepared, I researched online and came across the Kayoko truffle. This truffle includes Japanese macha green tea + white chocolate + cherry blossom petals. If you don’t already know, I love green tea & I love white chocolate, so this was a perfect combination for me. I absolutely had to have it!

To my dismay, the Kayoko truffle was not there when I arrived — it is a seasonal truffle and it’s only available in March! I missed it by a week! BOO. I tried a sample of the very popular Mo’s Bacon Bar, but I didn’t particulary enjoy it. Still, I picked one up to bring back for Aileen (she loves bacon) and also purchased the Gianduja bar for my sister and the Matcha bar for me. The Matcha bar was so good that it almost made up for the unavailable Kayoko truffle. Almost.
